From beer wheelbarrows to big hearts...

The 2025 Yorke Peninsula Field Days was a joyful celebration of country generosity and connection. For Cottages 4 Country Care, being chosen as the official charity exhibitor was both an honour and a heartwarming reminder of the power of community.

A Celebration of Community, Connection, and Country Generosity
Every two years, the quiet township of Paskeville comes alive for one of South Australia’s most iconic regional events... the Yorke Peninsula Field Days. Held this year from 30 September to 2 October 2025, the event showcases the best of rural innovation, agriculture, education, and community spirit. Thousands of visitors from across the state walk through the gates each year, making it a truly special opportunity for country organisations to connect with the people they serve.

This year, Cottages 4 Country Care was honoured to be selected as the official charity exhibitor... a milestone moment for our small, volunteer-run organisation that provides affordable accommodation in Adelaide for rural and remote families who need to travel for medical care.

Sharing Our Story... and Listening to Theirs

For three unforgettable days, our Cyclone Pavilion site stood proudly among the other exhibitors, with our daily “Guess the Number of Lollies” competition drawing smiles from all ages. Visitors stopped by to learn about our cottages, our volunteers, and the families we support from across regional South Australia.

Behind the counter, our small but mighty team of volunteers... some travelling from the Yorke Peninsula, Adelaide, and Clare... greeted everyone with warmth, laughter, and heartfelt stories. Many visitors shared their own experiences of travelling to the city for medical treatment or spoke of friends and family who had stayed in one of our cottages.

Every conversation reminded us why our work matters so deeply... each story was another thread in the fabric of country care.

A Wheelbarrow of Fun, 360 Rolls of Toilet Paper... and Plenty of Laughter!

Our major raffle drew a steady crowd across all three days... and our “Wheelbarrow-of-Beer” daily raffle (which we’d love to make a tradition!) sparked laughter, friendly competition, and countless photo moments. A special thanks goes to Richard at Mitre 10 Kadina for the idea!

Local businesses and community partners generously donated a wide range of prizes... from luxury accommodation and travel vouchers to family treats and hampers. Two lucky winners even scored a year’s supply of toilet paper (that’s 360 rolls!) thanks to the wonderful team at Kimberly-Clark Australia in Millicent.

The raffles not only raised vital funds to support our cottages but also became the perfect ice-breaker... proof that a good laugh can build just as many bridges as a good cause.

We were deeply humbled by the generosity of everyone who purchased tickets, shared a kind word, or offered help. Each donation and conversation helped spread awareness that affordable, compassionate accommodation is available for country families when they need it most.

Heartfelt Thanks

Our sincere thanks go to the Yorke Peninsula Field Days Committee for giving us the privilege of being part of such an extraordinary event.

To every volunteer, donor, business partner, and visitor who stopped for a chat, bought a ticket, or simply shared a smile... you made this experience unforgettable.

And to the local businesses that supported our raffle and display with donations, vouchers, and prizes... your generosity turned our site into a celebration of community spirit.

Together, we proved once again that when country people come together, incredible things can happen.
