Adelaide’s Country Friendly Accommodation

The charity Cottages 4 Country Care (formerly Rosemary’s Place Inc.) was founded in 2008 and has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status.

The mission statement of the association is ;

To provide accommodation for disadvantaged and/or disabled people from country communities who require medical and / or community services offered in Adelaide
To raise funds for accommodation for disadvantaged and/or disabled people from country communities who require medical and / or community services offered in Adelaide

To assist in alleviating the emotional and financial pressures placed on country patients and their families, Cottages 4 Country Care started with the leasing of two maisonettes in Wayville due to the perfect location, good internal condition, suitable layout, the ability to be initially behind in rent as a basis was developed and the security in ongoing availability. The long term aim of the charity is to purchase this property so that it can be renovated with an addition bedroom, (with an ensuite) for each cottage, a ‘granny-flat’ for extra guests, pergola BBQ area, a beautiful garden and a shed for storage and tinkering in.

In South Australia, all major treatment centres are located in Adelaide, so families from regional and rural South Australia need to uproot their lives and relocate, virtually overnight, for extended periods of time. Similarly, patients from the Northern Territory, Broken Hill and Mildura need to relocate to Adelaide for treatment.

This results in patients and families adjusting to their diagnosis and new circumstances without the benefit of established local support networks. Combined with costly medical bills and loss of income, many families find themselves in difficult financial circumstances, in particular where the patient or carer is also the breadwinner for the family.

It's during these times that the Cottages 4 Country Care steps in to support the patient and their family so that they can concentrate on what is most important – getting well.

Cottages 4 Country Care provides patients and their families, with accommodation and support that is:

Close to major treatment centres, hygienic and in a low infection environment, fully furnished and self-contained.

Be The Change

Dianne has been with the charity since 2008.

Dianne’s work experience with children first took her to Wudinna on the Eyre Peninsula where she felt totally at home as it was, a town similar to the one where she was born in New South Wales. Dianne’s life then took her on the adventure of living and working overseas which consolidated for Dianne, “You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.” When returning to Adelaide, Dianne wanted to follow her family’s passion and tradition of ‘Giving to Community’, and Cottages 4 Country Care was the perfect choice.

Dianne has personally experienced to need to travel 100 kms with family members for medical treatment, the premature deaths of very close friends with cancer, leukaemia, and through suicide, therefore Dianne has a deep sense of compassion for the guests staying at Cottages 4 Country Care.

Integrity, loyalty and mateship are the values which Dianne lives by.
